iTEACH

Criteria:

• iTEACH will include a maximum of 8 participants and all full-time and part-time faculty members are invited to apply.
• Priority will be given to faculty who will be teaching their course online in the 2009-2010 semesters.
• There is a participant stipend of $500.00 payable after the completion of iTEACH and submission of a final report evaluating the program.

Upon acceptance of your application, you will need to come to the CIT lab to complete a Computer Skills Inventory to determine your level of computer literacy. In some cases, participants will need to work with a CIT Staff Member to attain the skills necessary prior to participating in the program. You will find that the more skills you have, the more comfortable you will be teaching online, and the better instructor you can be for your students.

Proficiency in the following is a pre-requisite to begin the training. Please click on any of the links below for a quick tutorial/refresher on each topic:

• Open and close a new browser window using Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla Firefox or another web browser
• Copy and paste text (from documents within the same program and across programs)
• Saving and finding files on your computer
• Familiarity with file types (e.g., PDF, JPG, GIF, SWF)
• Send email with attachments and receive email with attachments using MS Outlook
• Post to threaded discussions ("Discussion Group Participation" and "How to Use a Message Board")
• Navigate and Search through a Web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox)
• Copy a URL from a site you are at
• Move from window to window by multitasking with two or more programs
• Know how to create a bookmark or add a favorite link
• Print a Web page

Review of applications will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Following the review meeting, applicants will be informed of their project status.
