Office of Faculty and Staff Development
Mission Statement
The Office of Faculty and Staff Development encourages
and promotes professional development opportunities, personal growth and
community building for all faculty and staff.
Philosophy
OFSD encourages each member of the campus community
to contribute to the College's mission of student success and views professional
development as a lifelong process. The continued renewal and enhancement
of our personal and professional lives enriches the college community.
It is essential to be learners in a learning-centered environment.
Organizational Structure The
OFSD works closely with a Faculty/Staff Development Committee, Academic
Affairs, and the Center for Instructional Technology. The Director of
OFSD reports to the President of the College.
The Teaching and Learning Center
Mission Statement
The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), advised by a taskforce, supports
teaching and learning on all levels by offering opportunities, activities
and services that promote student learning.
Philosophy
The Center is responsive to the needs of faculty and
professional staff. Recognizing that teaching can be an
isolating experience, and that there are many demands on
professors' and professional staff's time, the center can
provide a place and forum for faculty discussion, renewal
and camaraderie. Here, the opportunities for sharing ideas
about teaching, sharing frustrations as well as successes,
can be rewarding and energizing. The Center:
- Encourages and supports faculty and professional
staff by providing services, resources, and activities
that promote the enhancement of teaching and
learning.
- Provides links with other campuses and organizations
throughout the state, region and country.
- Brings faculty and professional staff together to share
ideas, perspectives and expertise.
If you would like to become involved, or if you have an idea,
workshop or a presentation you would like to share with the
campus community, please contact us or just drop in.
